The Fastest Way to Grow Your Life Coaching Business is with a Sales Funnel!

A few years ago, I was teaching a marketing workshop for the Center for Economic Empowerment and Development (C.E.E.D.) here in Fayetteville, NC.

The workshop was filled with all types of people from various backgrounds and different stages in business – from just looking at the possibility of having their own business to successful business owners looking for new ways to grow their companies.

After the workshop, a number of people asked if I would be willing to talk to them personally about their business. One of the participants was a life coach and author who helped women find their passion and vision. She also helped women to write and publish their own books.

So, I had a marketing consulting session with her and discovered that she was a really good coach and had helped her clients achieve their goals. The problem was that she just didn’t have enough of them and no consistent with of bringing in new prospective clients to discover how she could help them. She tried all types of ways like networking, social media, writing articles and making videos.

She would bring in a few clients from time to time…just not consistently week after week – month after month.

I talked with some of the other coaches that I knew and they told me similar stories. They were having the same struggle – no consistent process for bringing in new prospects – so no consistent way to demonstrate how they could make a difference with them. Hence, no consistent way to bring in new clients.

I know that this challenge is not unique to Life Coaches. It applies to a lot of people that offer professional coaching, consulting, counseling or training services. For now, I will stay in the world of life coaching and you can look to see how it applies to your unique services…ok?

So, I set out to create a solution to help them automate their client enrollment process. I thought that if I can help them attract more prospective clients, then they can coach more people and make a bigger impact on the world in their own special way.

I also thought that by helping them, I would be able to take care of my family in a more meaningful way by providing financial security and emotional support. I wanted them to stop worrying about money and live the life that we are born to live.

Since, there were so many Life, Career and Spirituality Coaches having the same problem, I created a total end-to-end solution that solves the problem of attracting as many clients as they could hand and that’s when I hit my first wall – my first major roadblock.

I was hit with “I can’t afford it” or “That seems like too much money” or “I will do it after I bring in a few more clients” or ” “. I thought that it was a great deal but they didn’t. I thought an initial investment of $3,000 into a solution that would help them generate $6,000 to $10,000 or more per month was extremely good investment. Especially, since we were going to handle all of the design, all of the tech and all of the marketing for them!

I had a hard time conveying the value because I was just thinking like a businessman…just running the numbers…and that was not communicating.

I was devasted…all of my time, energy and hard work appeared to be going up in smoke. Plus, my vision for providing financial security for my family was slipping through my hands.

Then I realized that they were coaches and they look at life through a different lens. They look at how they can make a difference…How they can impact people’s lives (first)…then they look at the money piece.

I had to figure out how to tell them that what I was offering would help them impact more lives and make a bigger difference…and I had to be able to say it in their language. I also needed to find a way to give them an experience of my solution at minimal risk to them.

So, I regrouped, tweaked a few things here and there, found some additional resources to help them market their business and set out on my new journey. I was happy again and beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Then one day in late June, I get a call from my step-dad asking me to come over to the house. When I get there, he tells me that my mother isn’t feeling well and she would like for me to do more to help her manage the Real Estate Business.

I noticed that my mom was kind of fidgety. She was working on paying the bills or something and she kept rubbing her hands over the papers…swirling back and forth…then round and round. I asked her if she was okay and said “Yes, I’m just a little light-headed” or something like that.

I think that it was about three days later, we had to take her to the hospital because was getting really dizzy and having trouble standing on her own. We arrive at the hospital and check her into the emergency room. Her mental state starts to rapidly decline and be began to fade in and out…of course you know, I am freaking out…right about now…cause, I didn’t know why it was happening. I didn’t know if it was a stroke, heart attack, allergic reaction or what!

Later we discovered that she didn’t have a heart attack or stroke…she had elevated levels of ammonia is her systems and it was causing her to be incoherent and spacey. After a few days, they released her from the hospital and sent her to rehab to help regain her strength.

The reason that I tell you this part of the story is because everything changed that week. The doctor would not let her drive until they were confident in her ability to respond. So, I became her daytime chauffer – like “Driving Miss Daisy”. Taking her to doctor visits, Walmart, Big Lots, and variety of other places like all of the banks that we used, physical therapy centers, making candy and fried chicken runs…I am sure that you get what I am saying.

As time went on, I began to take on more and more of her responsibilities at the Real Estate office. I found myself spending most of my time learning and doing her job and had very little time to launch my solution effectively. My vision and goal seemed to be put on hold…yet, once again. However, my mother’s health and well-being took priority for me. She has always been my rock and it was time for me to take care of her.

I never would have imagined going from doing more to helping my mother out would turn into managing the whole company in a matter of just a few weeks.

When things begin to settle down and she was feeling better, I was able to launch my automated client enrollment systems and sell it in the ClickFunnel’s Marketplace. Check it out if you like – https://marketplace.clickfunnels.com/templates/2680
